Holy Child Model Nursery and Primary School Otukpo, is a catholic school founded in 1986. Otukpo is located in the middle belt region of Benue State, Nigeria. The essence of the school is to meet the educational need of the growing population of children in Otukpo, the school began humbly in the parish compound as a Day Care in 1986 and in 1993, as a response to the request of parents in the area for a catholic education for their children, the need for structure arose, and it was moved to the present location.

Cornelia Connelly’s motto for her community, “Actions Not Words,” captures her understanding that living the Gospel is the best way of preaching it. For her, the love of God extends itself through a loving embrace of God’s people in ways that are responsive to the needs of each new age.

The roads in this part of the country is rough, full of stones and mud,  most of our children trek to school while others come to school at the mercy of motorcyclist which expose our children to dangers. We have about 600 children in the school, about 100 or more wants to go in the school bus but we have a small eighteen seater bus which is not only for conveying the children to and fro school and for outings, but also for running errands for the school and for the use of the sisters. During raining season, the children find it difficult to come to school because some fall into stagnant waters and others find it difficult to get bike to school.

We believe that if we get a bigger bus, children will be protected from harm and will participate fully in the school program beginning with assembly which is at 7:30am.

The risk of losing learners through accident and kidnapping is high but with the use of school bus, these and more will be avoided.
